When we moved to Texas we decided to go cable free, but not TV free mind you. I am completely bummed that I did not do this sooner. I watch everything I love, for a much smaller fee or free for that matter. Let's break it down:
THEN:
- Previously as mentioned above I paid $120 for both Cable and Internet. PS. No premium channels.
NOW:
- Internet - $35
- Netflix - $9
- Amazon Prime - ~$7 (yearly fee of $80)
- Free Current TV websites like FOX, CW, NBC, CBS, Comedy Central's The Daily Show (Next Day, After Airing)
Some other forms of Entertainment that I use as well:
- Podcasts - Free (TV for your ears)
- Overdrive Books - Free (sign in thru your Library for FREE BOOKS)
- Youtube - Free (This is where I watch free cooking shows and how to's)
I have an apple TV so I can "airplay" it directly onto my TV. You can do the same with ChromeCast or just plug your computer to your TV using HDMI.
Lastly
Have that show that you can't watch online for free and isn't on Netflix? You can buy the season thru Amazon (cheaper than iTunes) for $30 to $45. If you have one or two shows like this a year, you are still saving a bundle by not having Cable.
So cut the cord, read more, listen to awesome podcasts and enjoy some great shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
